Happy Christmas, Surrey! 🎄

Hope you’re having a good one, whether that means a loud house, a quiet sofa, or sneaking five minutes with a cuppa while something’s in the oven

Just doing a little Surrey check in today, partly to say hello, partly because I’d genuinely love to hear from you, how’s your Christmas going, and where in Surrey are you reading this from? (bonus points if you tell me what’s on your plate right now)

As for mine, honestly, properly Surrey, slow start, kettle on repeat, and that familiar moment where you think we should go for a walk, then remember the sofa exists

Also, here’s a cheerful little Surrey Christmas ish story I love, there’s a spot near Normandy (the Surrey one, no passport needed), where you can drive past a sign for Christmas Pie, or Christmas Pie Avenue, and do a full double take. It sounds like something a festive marketing team made up, but it’s real, and the name is brilliantly old school. It comes from a local Christmas family who owned land there, and Pie comes from pightle, an old word meaning a small field. So it’s basically the Christmas family’s little field, which is peak Surrey really

(Sources, Surrey County Council, Hidden Surrey, Christmas in Surrey, and Normandy Historians, Why is Christmas Pie so called)

Alright, your turn, what’s the most Surrey thing that happened to you today?
Or hit reply with your favourite weird Surrey place name, extra points for a photo of the sign

See you tomorrow..
